Apex Legends is one of our favourite shooters on console and PC, a brilliant free-to-play title that brought new life to the battle royale genre when it released, and has continued to reinvent itself impressively over seasons of new content.
EA only announced the existence of Apex Legends Mobile recently and did so in an understated way - just a blog post to confirm that it was on the way. However, it contained a lot of key information about when the game will actually be available.
If you search for it on the Google Play Store you'll see there's already a listing, and that's because the game is open for limited testing in a few markets. These beta tests are limited to India and the Philippines in the first instance, letting players in those locales try it out and give feedback.
EA says these tests will get bigger and come to new areas (and to iOS) over time, but it sounds like a lot of 2021 could be spent in testing, despite the announcement. For now, we don't know when a full release is planned, but later beta tests will apparently let players sign up to get a slot.
